15th Dec 2016 - Thursday - Christmas Drinks at The Rubbing House
A few of us have decided to have a bit of a get together for xmas after Badminton on Thursday 15th Dec 2016 from 9pm onwards.

The plan is to get down to badminton early, have a few games, then go up to The Rubbing House pub at 9pm.

We are thinking of buying a few nibbles and reserving a large table. It will be a few quid each for everyone that wants food.

Can you let me Dave know if you are going please so we can get a rough idea of numbers.

For those that aren’t going to the pub, club night will continue as normal (perhaps with a few less people after 9pm).

2013-2014 - Bookham Badminton Clubs Storming Season

BOOKHAM Badminton Club's frenetic and eventful season came to a close last week. Nine teams contested three different leagues to bring success in an abundance of badminton battles.

The season was capped by the success of the Surrey ladies' team, who won seven of their eight games to become runaway champions of Division Four of the County League. The win ensures promotion to Division Three.

The Sutton men's six team, captained by Des Williamson and including club stalwarts David Seditas and Terry Morris, were unlucky not to be promoted to Division One of the Sutton and District League, finishing second to Tolworth.

The Sutton men's fours team also fared well, missing out on the Division One League title by a mere two points to Sanderstead badminton club, only losing one game all season, with the fours captain John Norman and debut player Tom Greenwood managing strong victories against such adversaries as Wimbledon and Chadacre. Both teams will surely face-off against some more improving teams such as Cheam next term.

The remaining sides, including a Guildford league cup team, mixed teams and other level teams, had mixed seasons, resulting in the cup team missing out on a final by a fine thread but which will see them move to the vintage Moorman Cup next season, mixing with the likes of Gladiators Badminton Club.

If anybody is looking to play competitive club badminton, please don't hesitate to e-mail club secretary Paddy at patrick1.callaghan@gmail.com or match secretary Adam Palmer on 07836 554154 or at adamjpalmer@yahoo.com.

12th May 2013 - Saturday - Moonwalk - Breast Cancer Awareness
As some of you already know, myself and 3 friends (including Terry's daughter in law, Joanne) will be taking part in this year's Moonwalk. For those of you who are not familiar with the event, it is a marathon distance walk through the streets of London during the night! As if that's not bad enough, (unbeknown to me when I signed up for this challenge), we also have to walk the course in our bras!

The challenge is to raise money and awareness of Breast Cancer and this is where you can help. I realise these days that we are all inundated with requests for sponsorships. However, if you are able to pledge just a £1 or £2, we would be SO grateful and it would make those painful miles in my bra all the more bearable.

The link to our Fundraising page is: The Surrey Super Snails

Many thanks to you all for your support, Kind regards, Mandy :-)

Sept 2012 - Coaching Day with Mathew Honey - ex England Player - ****** Sorry not on this year *******

From Matthew:
I am going to have to leave this year's coaching day at Epsom College. This is mainly my fault, as I haven't really had the time to organise the event properly due to starting a new job recently.

However, hopefully it will be back next year.

The new season is almost upon us and what can be better than to have a coaching day right at the start of the new season. It's a day of coaching on Saturday 8th or Sunday 9th Sept at Epsom College from 09:30 to 16:30 and all for approx £45 per person. Please let Matthew Honey know if you wish to attend. Please note that places are limited. You can contact Matthew on 07754258047 or matthew_honey@hotmail.co.uk

June 2012 - Club Shirts available from Simon
12th May 2012 - Saturday - Jason Warner is running a 66 mile Marathon from London to Brighton
Hi Everyone, Thanks for first of all taking a look and if you are feeling like your wallet or purse is feeling a little heavy I'm hoping to unload you of some of your hard earned cash. It's all in aid of a really good cause though and one which I am doing in aid of my mum as a celebration of her journey and to give something back to the people which are helping her get better!

For those of you who don't know I am planning on running an ultra marathon with one of my best pals Stuart Cooper which is 100km (roughly 66 miles) and yes it is all in one go! Stuart has optimistically put us in for under 18 hours to complete the race and it's going to be a long haul trekking from the early hours of the morning all the way through to the next day. This is by far the most physically demanding challenge I've ever attempted and probably the only one of this kind.

I'm really hoping that if you can help me out by sponsoring just a little amount! Can't thank you enough for your support! Love you all J x. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

31st March & Sunday 1st April 2012 - Surreys First Team - Result

Surrey County Badminton Association Surrey’s 1st team is the WINNER of the ICC Premier A!

The final weekend of the Inter Counties Championships were held at The National Badminton Centre in Milton Keynes, 31st March and 1st April. With Surrey and Yorkshire level on 48 points at the start of the weekend, it came down to the last few matches on Sunday to decide who would take the trophy and ICC title. Surrey had a good start by beating Hertfordshire 7-3 on Saturday morning. It was an even better afternoon when Nottinghamshire failed to achieve a single point. The games were exciting with tough opponents but Surrey was determined to go into the final on Sunday with a chance to topple the long standing winners, Yorkshire. Our 10-0 win over Nottinghamshire set us 1 point ahead by the end of the day.

A positive team arrived at the Badminton Centre on Sunday morning knowing that they needed to draw with Yorkshire in order to win. After the singles matches it was 2-2. The Surrey boys succeeded in both doubles which meant we had 4 chances to win another point. With Gabby White and Jenny Wallwork playing for their county and former international player Sarah Bok, our girls put up a good fight but our success came with Chris Langridge and Sam Ward winning their mixed game to give us our 5 points and the Championship title! As all other matches had been completed, Yorkshire conceded the last mixed which gave Surrey a final score of 6-4. Presentations were made and congratulations happily received as tired bodies left the Centre. But there was disappointment for Essex and Middlesex who are now relegated to Premier B for the 2012/13 season. Lancashire and Hampshire will be moving up to the Premier A division for next season’s battles.

The team for this weekend was Toby Penty, Jack Molyneux, Matt Honey, Chris Langridge, Ed Thomas, Georgina Bland, Kelly Mead, Hayley Connor, Sam Ward and Ugne Urbonaite. Thanks go to Honor Connor who tirelessly organizes the hotels and Stuart Wardell who selects the team and order of play. Congratulations to the players, all of whom played with enthusiasm and determination and did a great job supporting each other. Please go to the Badminton England website to see the final results table and all the match details and statistics. Report by, Debbie Honey
